Click here to see a video from one of my clients showing a person walking around the shop, taking a candle and putting it in her bag and then somehow forgot to pay?
A while ago another client of mine who had called in the police about a shoplifter told me of his day in court. The shoplifter was a lawyer, who had a good job. The items taken were two paperback books worth about $25. He told the judge that he had no intension of doing it, and it was just an impulse.
This is part of a wider problem. The biggest problem now is often that stock control in shops is so bad that many retailers do not track shoplifting, so they do not know the extent of the problem even though their computer systems can tell them.
