I have a question!

I was trying to schedule user meetings for our POS software and came to calendarpedia.com website which had heaps of free calendars and planners for 2018 to 2021 in Word, Excel and PDF formats. I picked a few and reviewed them and finally selected one that suited my purposes.

Then I thought to myself that many of my readers who are like me often planning would find it useful too.

What you do is select a calendar that is the closest to the one you require, probably in Word/Excel and edit it to your requirements. If you do not have an office program to edit these calendars, check out this free one here.

These calendars are great to stick on a wall at work so that everyone can see them.

Since I use google calendar, it knows all my messages. It has my shopping lists too. Since I use Spotify and google home, it knows the music I play. From Google home, it even knows the time I turned the lights off to go to sleep.

Its hard to accept but it is true that the technology we interact with every day is tracking and recording our every move.

If you have a pet shop, the following site by Microsoft may help you to try to identify rare dog breeds. What this site claim is from a photo can determine the breed of the dog. It has a downloadable app, so you can do it straight from your mobile too.

I tested it with some random dogs that I found on pet finder

Overall it seems to give good results. I was quite impressed.

Although it did have a few goofs. I clicked here.

I put in Lucas, who is a two-year-old. It's a hard test as the experts in pet finder were not sure but thinks its either a neutered Bouv Flandres or Labradoodle; they are not sure.

However, it is certainly not a poodle.

Still it may help you out.

What it also shows is the limitation of current image processing technology used in many of the modern security systems.

Please give me a few days to get back into the routine. As I know there is a big pile of work waiting for me. Three weeks of it plus what will come.

I will be back at work on Tuesday, then I will start to work through what I am sure will be a mountain of work waiting for me. Please give me about a week to get through it all.

For those that are interested here are some pictures of my trip. Overall, I think Vietnam and Campodia are exceptionally interesting places to see particularly the tribal areas in North Vietnam, but I am in no rush to go back. One problem I had is that I do like their cooking but only a few dishes so after a while it started to taste too much of the same. Still the foreign resturants there are reasonable and good.

I like this new promotion from HWT. If you buy or get a sun today in Victoria you can get a free compact fluorescent bulb (CFL) at your retail newsagent. Politically it is at a great time as now everyone is thinking about the environment. In my shopping centre today there were all these Australian conservationists out there today in force.

In my own home, I have replaced several regular light bulbs with these compact fluorescent bulbs. I am not only saving energy but also time and frustration as I don’t have to replace the light so often.

It will be interesting to see how this offer goes as if a person wants a compact bulb it’s worthwhile for them to get a SUN newspaper now. I just wish there had been more promotion about the offer with glossy posters for newsagents to show off.

I read one of my competitor’s blog posts that one of my clients was upset over our software cost for a year of $6,000+. I decided to hear what my client-side of the story was.

It was easy to find him as I have only one client that pays that much. All other of my clients pay only a small fraction of that.

So I rang him. I told him that I heard that you have been talking to my competitor about the software bill. He sheepishly replied that he had but how did I know? I said it is on his blog site.

I then stated how could he say he was misled? We had talked earlier for ages about it. Then we had given him an invoice earlier before we even did the work. Further we only continued after he agreed to proceed.

He read the article and then admitted that he had approached my competitor to see what they could do! They could not do what was required. However, even if they could have what he liked was the posbrowser ease of use so he would have stayed with us.

He also felt that the blog post was a misrepresentation of the facts. His confidence was breached and written without even asking him. In his words "extremely unprofessional".
