Now the Association of Convenience Stores, Caltex Starmarts, 7-Elevens and BP shops are asking the Productivity Commission to consider a proposal for them to sell alcohol. Click here for details.
If these shops are interested, I am sure many newsagents are, too. Alcohol is approximately a third of the business of German newsagencies. I cannot see why it could do equally well in Australian newsagencies.
I think the newsagency associations should look into this immediately. Also, I am sure it would cost little for the ANF to join this campaign.
