Thank you again for being part of the POS Solutions community, which is over 40 years old. It's been a long journey, and it appears now that we are the only software supplier from then still left for newsagents.

3 years to capture the moon aligns with Christ

Some things take time; fun fact: It took a photographer three years of observation to capture this fateful moment when the moon aligns with the massive statue of Christ the Redeemer.

I wish you a joyful holiday season, health, and a prosperous New Year!

Warm regards,

Bernard

Four Decades of POS System Innovation

POS SOFTWARE

POS Solutions 41 years old

Today is POS Solutions' official 41st birthday. I bought it 41 years ago, planning to revolutionise the point-of-sale industry from some guys who could not make it work on September 8, 1983. I remember it well—a young guy with big plans who thought he was so clever; I had a partner, and we both had the arrogance of youth. Our only business plan was that if others could sell Business Software, so could we and since we both knew Point of Sale, having grown up in our parent's shops and considering ourselves terrific programmers. We started in a small serviced office in St Kilda; when he dropped out, I moved the company to my bedroom. This became my office.

Slowly, POS Solutions became a leading POS software provider for businesses across Australia and New Zealand. Soon, I took on another partner, Zac, a computer engineer. Our steady growth and commitment to excellence have made us.

Our Winning Formula

Our success over these 41 years can be attributed to two core principles:

  1. Product Excellence: We have always invested in R&D and product development, maintaining a larger team of developers than our competitors. Our edge has always been our software.

  2. Customer-Centric Approach: From day one, we've prioritised exceptional customer service. There is a saying, "You can get whatever you want if you give people what they want." We knew their success would be our success.

Happy birthday to us!

Forty-one years of POS Solutions.  From the failing software business, I brought but somehow we made it work somehow, so now we went from my bedroom to a boardroom. That's something! Thanks to everyone who's been part of this wild ride. Customers, staff, partners, readers here - you're all legends.

Here's to many more years of trying to stay ahead in this crazy tech world!

Improve Your Support Journey: Provide Contact Details

POS SOFTWARE

Support call log

Here at POS Software, we truly value customers' feedback in our post-call Survey feedback. This helps us continuously improve your Customer support.  However, what is all too common is that survey responses have included requests for additional Follow-up support but no information for us to get back in touch with the request.

For example:

A customer completes a survey after a call with our support team. In the comments, they write: “I still need more help with this issue. Please have someone call me."

Unfortunately, we cannot follow up and provide further assistance without any name, phone number, email, or other contact details. We want to maintain your anonymity in surveys while assisting you further if needed.  See image above.

So, if you submit survey feedback indicating you require ongoing support, please be sure to include your Contact information:

  • Your name - So we can reference previous conversations and access your account history
  • Contact number or email - So our team can directly reach you to resolve your issue

By including these quick contact points in your survey feedback, our customer service team can efficiently follow up on your question or issue and ensure it is fully addressed.

Please know our goal is constantly improving our systems for streamlined follow-up requests, so our survey form is being upgraded. But for now, these extra details must be filled in to ensure we can resolve any outstanding concerns in a timely, personalized manner.

We appreciate you taking the time to help us help you better!

PS - If you have been happy with our services and support, we would super appreciate it if you leave us a nice Google Review. This would certainly make our day!

Optus Outage Persists: Our POS Support Teams Hit Hard

POS SOFTWARE

Optus Outage update

Optus outage impact

As of now, this massive Optus network outage has stretched past 12 hours, leaving millions of Australians and businesses disconnected. For retailers relying on Optus for their point of sale and EFTPOS systems, this extended outage has been nothing short of a nightmare.

Our POS System support teams have been inundated with calls from court clients seeking help running their stores. We have now been all hands on deck as we scramble to assist our clients from this failure.

For brick-and-mortar shops, having a working point-of-sale and EFTPOS system is their lifeline. Retailers rely on them to take payments, manage inventory and operate their stores smoothly.

So when a major telco like Optus goes down, it directly threatens their ability to make sales and ultimately stay in business. This outage has severely impacted small retailers in the following ways:

  • Loss of phone payments - Retailers can't take phone orders without telco services operational.

  • Customer communications cut - Stores can't call or email customers about orders and stock.

  • No Internet - Most business communications today are by internet

  • Support is cut - Our support staff cannot dial in to help them.

  • EFTPOS systems went down for some of our clients, which means their Revenue grinds to a halt - With no ability to take EFTPOS, stores can see their takings halved.

Our POS Team Steps Up To Assist

Our POS support teams have been flat-out trying to fill the void.

Despite the endless influx of calls and inquiries, we've risen to the challenge to try our best to help retailers keep running through this outage. While we can't single-handedly fix Optus' faults, our support teams are doing everything possible to minimize the damage to affected retailers.

Keep note of the Financial Impact

In our view, someone needs to commit to compensation. We hope that someone takes responsibility to compensates appropriately for losses inflicted by this catastrophic outage. If so, you will need to be able to substantiate your claim.

  • Cost of the Outage
  • Substantiate your claim

Public holiday support AFL Grand Final

POS SOFTWARE

It's a public holiday here in Victoria tomorrow, so our interstate customer support team will take over tomorrow. Then, as on Monday, it is a public holiday in NSW, their interstate team will take over. The musical chairs we play in business. Our Victorian and interstate teams are outstanding, so we will provide the same excellent service our customers expect.

We understand some of you may need support today during the big game. While I recommend avoiding calling during peak times if possible, but if you need, we have staff ready to assist if you need us. We are doing our best under the challenging circumstances that public holidays inevitably bring. Please be patient and kind - we're all doing our best!

May the best team win tomorrow.

AFL Grand Final 2023 predictions and tips

It should be a good match; this AFL grand final between Collingwood and Brisbane is set to be an epic encounter. Both teams have shown stellar form and consistency and appear evenly matched. Collingwood and Brisbane finished first and second on the ladder with only one game between them, which is slightly in Collingwood favour. Both won their qualifying finals—the Pies did not do as well as Brisbane. The Lions have been recently winning more than Collingwood. The Lions' recent victory over the Pies is telling. Both teams have injury problems, of concern to Collingwood is that Moore's absence could really hurt Collingwood. Both have good finals experience but Collingwood is a bit more.

The Odds

Bookmakers have Collingwood as the clear favourite. That motivates me to go for Brisbane; I tend to go for underdogs. I have another reason for picking Brisbane; I am equal to the top on the NLNA NANA footy tipping on games but behind on points. I blame my team, Carlton's performance this year, for that situation. If I go for the favourite, I cannot win, but if Brisbane pulls an upset, then I have a chance.

The Verdict

It should be a really cracking contest.

I am sure the best team will win!

Enjoy the big game; I know I will.

Celebrating 40 Years of POS Solutions Innovation and Service Excellence

POS SOFTWARE

Happy 40 years

Today, we are now at four decades of stability, integrity and commitment to customers.

It marks a major milestone as POS Solutions celebrates our 40th birthday. It's incredible to think about the journey from those early days back in 1983 to now being a leading point-of-sale software provider across Australia and New Zealand.

From Humble Bedroom Beginnings to Industry Leader

I founded POS Solutions as a young, eager (maybe over-confident!) guy in my early 20s with no real business plan. However, I knew others were developing POS Software. I was confident. I felt I was so good, huh, to be 20 and know it all. I felt with my programming skills and my determination, I could do something even better than them.

It was the start of the journey that has led us to where we are now today.

Reaching 40 years in business is a remarkable achievement in any industry. Reflecting on our success, I'm incredibly proud of what we've accomplished with relatively modest resources compared to the more prominent players we competed with early on.

I vividly remember those early days of starting up in my bedroom, which doubled as our office! Yet, through sheer perseverance and commitment to being the best, we withstood the challenges that came our way.

Our Winning Formula - Care Deeply About Product and Service

Analyzing the key factors behind our POS Software success, it comes down to caring more than competitors in two core areas:

Product Development

We've always invested heavily in R&D and programming to improve and innovate our software constantly. Even now, we maintain at least double the number of developers compared to most competitors for any project.

This unmatched commitment to product excellence keeps our Point-of-sale (POS) Software at the forefront of retail technology. And it's why I'm so excited for the future. We have genuinely game-changing developments on the horizon!

Customer Service

Providing exceptional support has been central to our philosophy from day one. We prioritize service as a core value with rigorous staff training, satisfaction monitoring, and empowering employees to resolve issues quickly.

After 40 years, I still ensure we uphold the highest standards in helping clients. Our customers' success drives our own.

Celebrating the Past and Future

Today, we celebrate the past successes and lessons that have brought us here. But we also look to the future with eager optimism.

Through relentless innovation, we aim to help retailers achieve new levels of productivity and efficiency. We feel a profound responsibility to the community that has supported us over the past four decades.

To all our employees, partners and customers - thank you for being part of our journey. Here's to even more success in the future together.
